The government announced a new increase in fuel prices, effective from January 16, 2025, with a fresh notification issued on Wednesday.
- Petrol prices were raised by Rs3.47 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs256.13 per litre.
- High-speed diesel prices also saw an increase of Rs2.61 per litre, reaching Rs260.95 per litre.

Earlier in January, the government had raised fuel prices for the fortnight starting from January 1. The price of petrol was raised by 0.56 paisa per litre, while high-speed diesel saw a jump of Rs2.96 per litre.
The Ministry of Finance issued the notification for the updated fuel prices, which took immediate effect.
