A tragic traffic accident on the Indus Highway at Ambiri Kallah Chowk has resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people and left 25 others injured. The accident occurred when a 22-wheeler trailer, reportedly suffering from brake failure, collided with a passenger flying coach and several other vehicles.
The crash, which took place late in the afternoon, led to immediate fatalities. The oil tanker trailer, unable to stop due to the malfunctioning brakes, overturned onto the passenger coach, crushing it under its weight. This sparked a chain reaction, involving several other vehicles on the highway.

“The trailer’s inability to halt caused a catastrophic series of events. The coach was entirely crushed under the trailer, leading to significant loss of life,” said the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Karak. Authorities have issued a red alert at local hospitals in preparation for a surge in injured victims, many in critical condition.
Rescue operations are still ongoing, with teams working to extricate bodies from the wreckage. Survivors have been pulled from the debris and are being transported to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Karak for treatment. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue operations continue.
