The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of war crimes.

International agencies report that similar warrants have been issued for former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Mohammed Deif, leader of Hamas’ military wing, Al-Qassam Brigades. The ICC’s Chief Prosecutor formally requested these warrants in May over alleged war crimes.

The decision follows ongoing Israeli actions in Gaza since October 7, which have reportedly resulted in over 44,000 Palestinian deaths, including 17,000 children, and more than 104,000 injuries.

This historic move by the ICC represents a major step toward addressing the escalating violence in Gaza. However, enforcing the warrants poses significant challenges due to geopolitical complexities.
