Rakesh Roshan Steps Down as Director but Confirms Production of ‘Krrish 4’
Veteran Indian filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has confirmed his decision to step away from directing but remains deeply involved in the Krrish franchise as a producer. In a recent interview, he shared, “I don’t think I’ll be directing any further, but I’ll surely be announcing Krrish 4 very soon.”
Speculation regarding the direction of Krrish 4 surfaced earlier this year when filmmaker Siddharth Anand, known for hits like Bang Bang, War, and Fighter, posted a fan-made image of Hrithik Roshan in the Krrish costume on X (formerly Twitter) with the message, “He’s coming back,” fueling rumors of his involvement.
The Krrish series began in 2003 with Koi Mil Gaya, directed by Rakesh Roshan, followed by Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013), with Hrithik portraying the iconic character Krishna, aka Krrish. The franchise has featured a star-studded cast including Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra, Rekha, Naseeruddin Shah, Vivek Oberoi, and Kangana Ranaut.

Beyond Krrish 4, Rakesh Roshan plans to re-release several of his iconic films. His 1995 hit Karan Arjun will return to theaters on November 22, followed by the possible re-release of his 1988 classic Khoon Bhari Maang, starring Rekha and Kabir Bedi. Additionally, Rakesh is planning celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai in January 2025.
“Not every film may work, but Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai will be completing 25 years in January. Karan Arjun was also released in January, but I didn’t want to clash the two, so I moved the release up,” Rakesh explained.
