As a result, the retail price of first-grade ghee and oil has surged from Rs505 to Rs559 per kg, placing a strain on consumers already facing high living costs. Similarly, the price of second-grade ghee has risen from Rs440 to Rs500 per kg, with retail prices in various areas ranging from Rs525 to Rs530 per kg.
For second-grade oil, the price has jumped from Rs452 to Rs512 per litre, with some vendors charging as high as Rs530 to Rs540 per litre.
In a contrast to these rising prices, the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) recently announced a Rs13 per kg reduction in sugar prices, bringing it down from Rs153 to Rs140 per kg, offering some relief to consumers amidst the ongoing surge in cooking oil and ghee costs.
