Suzuki recently unveiled the e Vitara, its first fully electric SUV, at an event in Milan, signaling a major entry into the EV market. Developed in collaboration with Toyota and Daihatsu, the e Vitara is set to launch in Japan, Europe, and India by summer 2025, though pricing details remain undisclosed.
Larger than the hybrid Vitara, the e Vitara features a 2,700mm wheelbase and measures 4,275mm in length, providing more interior space. Although heavier, it promises quicker acceleration and an estimated range of up to 400 km per charge, based on battery size.

The exterior draws from Suzuki’s eVX concept, with bold wheel arches, a sloping roofline, and 18- to 19-inch alloy wheels for a rugged yet refined look fit for city driving. Inside, it includes a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, along with practical features like climate controls, a floating center console, and multiple charging ports.
Built on Suzuki’s new ‘Heartect-e’ EV platform, also co-developed with Toyota and Daihatsu, the e Vitara offers two battery options: a 49kWh battery for base models and a 61kWh battery for high-end models. The 49kWh battery powers a front-wheel-drive motor with 142 horsepower, providing about 200 miles of range. The top-tier variant, equipped with dual motors and four-wheel drive, delivers 181 horsepower and includes Suzuki’s AllGrip-e system for off-road capability.
Charging is efficient, supporting up to 150kW fast charging, allowing a charge from 15% to 70% in around 30 minutes.
Despite these features, rear-seat space and the 306-liter boot may be less than ideal for long trips, as the high floor could be uncomfortable for taller passengers, and the boot is smaller than some competitors.
Toyota will release its own version of this model in its bZ EV lineup. Produced in India, the e Vitara will begin production in spring 2025, with a projected starting price of approximately £30,000.
