Maliha Ali Wins Bronze for Pakistan at the 6th Asian Open Taekwondo Championship

Maliha Ali, representing Pakistan, won a bronze medal in the -73 kg category at the 6th Asian Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship, held in Tangerang, Indonesia, from October 15 to 18, 2024.

A student at Lahore Garrison University, Maliha displayed remarkable skill and dedication throughout the competition, earning praise for her strong performance. The championship was highly competitive, featuring over 275 athletes from countries including India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal, and the host nation, Indonesia.

In the -73 kg category, South Korea’s Shin Jeong Jin claimed the gold medal, while Indonesia’s Maheshwari Nadira secured silver. Maliha’s achievement not only highlights her personal dedication but also serves as an inspiration to her teammates and future taekwondo athletes in Pakistan.

Ahead of the tournament, a 16-member taekwondo team from Pakistan arrived in Indonesia, eager to represent their country on this prestigious platform. Held at the Indore Stadium Sports Center, the event provided a valuable opportunity for athletes to compete at an elite level and foster camaraderie among participating nations.
