ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans for large-scale protests on October 15 at Islamabad’s D-Chowk if the government does not allow party founder Imran Khan to meet his family and lawyers.
PTI Central Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that the protests will be withdrawn only if the government grants access to Imran Khan. He added that for the past five to six weeks, the government has blocked meetings with Khan, including with his lawyers and family members.

Akram expressed concern over reports of mistreatment in jail and clarified that the protest is not aimed at disrupting the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit but to demand access to their leader. He also accused the government of pressuring PTI MNAs’ families to gain support for constitutional amendments.
Meanwhile, Minister for Information Atta Tarar warned that no disruptions to the SCO Summit will be tolerated and that Islamabad has been secured to host foreign delegations, including 12 national leaders. He stressed that PTI’s protest plans would have no impact on the summit.
