Tesla (TSLA) unveiled its much-anticipated “Cybercab” robotaxi and “Robovan” at the “We, Robot” event in Burbank, California. CEO Elon Musk showcased the fully autonomous Cybercab, which lacks a steering wheel and pedals, and can charge wirelessly. Musk highlighted that the vehicle will offer “individualized mass transit” and be priced under $30,000, allowing owners to manage fleets of the robotaxis.

In addition to the Cybercab, Tesla introduced the larger Robovan, capable of seating up to 20 passengers or transporting goods. Musk also shared plans to roll out Tesla’s fully autonomous driving in Texas and California by 2025, with the Cybercab entering production by 2026. He emphasized the safety benefits of autonomous driving and allowed attendees to experience rides in both vehicles.

Musk also presented the Optimus humanoid robot, which helped serve drinks and perform tasks during the event. Expected to cost between $20,000 and $30,000, Musk predicted it could become Tesla’s biggest product. The robot may be in Tesla factories by late 2024, with external sales starting in 2025. Despite these announcements, Tesla’s stock remained relatively stable, as investors await further details, potentially coming with the company’s third-quarter results on Oct. 23.
