In a major development, PTI supporters gathered at D-Chowk in Islamabad on Saturday, despite heavy rain that temporarily weakened the effects of police tear gas. The protest, organized to demand the release of PTI leaders and oppose the detention of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, saw a large turnout despite challenging weather and security measures.
The tear gas initially used to disperse the crowd became ineffective as strong winds blew the smoke back towards the police. This brief relief allowed protesters to strengthen their position in the area. However, after the rain stopped, security forces moved back in to regain control over the protest site.

Tensions in the capital remained high after violent clashes between PTI supporters and police the previous day, leading to road closures and disruptions. Key routes like Motorways M1 and M2, as well as the Grand Trunk Road, were blocked, and mobile services were suspended, adding to the city’s unrest.
In Lahore, PTI also held a demonstration, with heightened security and roadblocks in place to prevent chaos. PTI’s political committee vowed to continue protesting, calling for the release of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur. The political unrest continues to escalate as both sides brace for further confrontation.
