Authorities have uncovered a large-scale diesel theft from a Pakistan State Oil (PSO) pipeline in Rawalpindi, with thieves stealing fuel worth over Rs 8 million. The theft occurred over several months in the Humak area, prompting a formal complaint to local police.

The PSO pipeline, connecting the Sihala installation to Attock Refineries, had been experiencing irregular diesel flow since June 2024. A significant drop in pressure led the company to suspect theft, and further investigation revealed suspicious activity near the pipeline.

An investigation uncovered that thieves had tapped into the pipeline, siphoning off approximately 302,000 liters of diesel, valued at Rs80 million. A case has been filed under Section 462-B of the Pakistan Penal Code, which addresses tampering with petroleum pipelines.

Police and PSO officials are collaborating to identify those responsible for the theft, raising concerns about the security of the region’s fuel supply. In response, security measures around the pipelines have been tightened to prevent future incidents.
