The critically acclaimed play The White Plague has returned by popular demand, offering audiences a powerful and timely exploration of war, disease, and the complexities of human nature. Adapted from the work of renowned Czech playwright Karel Čapek and directed by Meher Jaffri, The White Plague is a biting satire that reflects on our world. This play holds a special place in Pakistani theatre history as the last commissioned work of the legendary Zia Mohyeddin.

The production pays tribute to Mohyeddin’s legacy by featuring some of the most celebrated talents from the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA). Set in a world where a superpower is on the brink of a devastating war, the story unfolds as a deadly pandemic known as the White Plague spreads globally. Amidst the chaos, a young doctor discovers a cure for the disease, but there’s a twist—he will only reveal the cure under a specific and mysterious condition.
Karachi audiences can experience this thought-provoking production from August 21 to 25 at the Arts Council, while Lahore audiences can catch it from September 4 to 8 at the Alhamra Arts Council.
