US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller has declared America’s support for the people of Bangladesh amid the recent political turmoil. Following the resignation and departure of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina due to a violent uprising, Miller stressed the need for restraint and avoidance of further violence. He welcomed the formation of an interim government and expressed hope that the power transfer would adhere to Bangladeshi laws.
Miller highlighted the importance of democratic principles, rule of law, and the will of the Bangladeshi people in decisions regarding the interim government. This sentiment was echoed by other international figures. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak emphasized the necessity of early measures to protect democracy in Bangladesh, while White House National Security Adviser John Kirby called for a democratic and multi-party interim government. The European Union also stressed the importance of a peaceful and democratic transfer of power to maintain stability and uphold democratic values in Bangladesh.
