Imran Khan will be released today and will be welcomed by the entire nation, says Gohar

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Chairman of PTI, has announced that justice has prevailed with the Islamabad court’s acquittal of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the iddat nikah case. He praised the judiciary for its decision, viewing it as a testament to the independence and strength of Pakistan’s judicial system.

The court, led by Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka, dismissed the charges against the couple, setting aside the previous trial court’s decision that had sentenced them to seven years in jail and fined them Rs. 500,000 each. Gohar emphasized that this ruling upholds the rule of law and the supremacy of the Constitution, asserting that Imran Khan was pressured to compromise, which has now been proven unjustified.

Barrister Gohar reported that he met Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, where he found him in high spirits, expressing happiness with the court’s decision. Gohar characterized the acquittal as a victory not just for Imran Khan but for the entire nation, describing the case as baseless and welcoming the dismissal of unfounded charges. He also noted that Bushra Bibi has been granted bail in the remaining cases against her.

Confidently, Gohar stated that Imran Khan looks forward to his release, anticipating a nationwide welcome upon his return. The court’s decision, admitting the appeals and pronouncing the reserved verdict, also dismissed the medical board application of the main complainant, Khawar Maneka. The court ordered that Imran Khan should be released if not required in any other case.
