This initiative, initiated about a month ago, is in response to dwindling sales and intensified price competition.
Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, had announced on April 15th that the company would lay off more than 10% of its worldwide workforce, totaling over 14,000 individuals by the end of 2023. Since then, Tesla has undergone multiple rounds of layoffs, with sources indicating that Musk aims to reduce the company’s staff by 20%.

According to Tesla’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN), the latest round of layoffs will affect workers at its Palo Alto and Fremont facilities in California. The termination process is set to commence within a 14-day period starting June 20, 2024.
In addition to the recent California layoffs, Tesla had previously announced the termination of 6,020 employees in Texas and California as part of its workforce reduction measures. Furthermore, 285 employees at Tesla’s Buffalo, New York facilities, responsible for the Autopilot software labelling team and fast-charging equipment manufacturing, were also affected by the global job cuts. Musk had dissolved the Tesla Supercharger group on April 30th as part of these restructuring efforts.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
