Punjab Announces June Summer Camps with Strict Rules

The Punjab School Education Department has granted permission to public and private educational institutions to organize summer camp activities during the summer vacation period. The department has also issued detailed guidelines outlining the duration, schedule, facilities, and safety measures that schools must follow while conducting the camps.

According to the official notification, the summer camp program will run from June 1 to June 30, 2026. To protect students from extreme weather conditions, camps will only operate during morning hours from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Authorities have restricted camp activities to Monday through Thursday, while Friday will remain a weekly holiday. The department clarified that schools may arrange academic and curricular activities during the camps, but attendance will not be compulsory for students.

The notification states that private schools are not allowed to charge any additional fee for participation in a summer camp. Similarly, government schools and teachers have been directed not to collect tuition fees or any extra charges from students attending the program.

Parental approval will be mandatory for students wishing to participate. School administrations have also been instructed to ensure that all activities take place indoors to minimize exposure to heat.

To provide a safe environment, schools must maintain cleanliness and offer essential facilities, including cold and clean drinking water, proper seating arrangements, functional fans, and electricity backup. Administrations have also been ordered to keep a fully equipped first aid box available on campus to handle any emergencies during camp hours.

In another relaxation, students attending a summer camp will not be required to wear school uniforms. Instead, they may wear light and weather-appropriate clothing suitable for the summer season.

The Education Department emphasized that strict compliance with these instructions is mandatory. Officials warned that any institution found violating the prescribed rules, charging unauthorized fees, or failing to provide required facilities could face disciplinary action.

The month-long summer camp initiative aims to help students remain engaged in educational and extracurricular activities while ensuring their safety and comfort during the summer break.
