In the wake of this tragic event, President William Ruto promptly called an urgent meeting with senior security officials at State House in Nairobi. This gathering is expected to focus on assessing the implications of the crash and determining necessary steps to ensure the stability and effectiveness of the nation’s security framework.

The National Security Council, a pivotal entity in Kenya’s security architecture, is playing a central role during this crisis. Comprising key national figures, including the President, Deputy President, Defence Minister, Attorney-General, Chief of Defence Forces, Director-General of the National Intelligence Service, and the Inspector-General of Police, the council is the principal body responsible for making decisions on national security issues. It oversees the country’s security agencies and manages other vital aspects related to the safeguarding of national security, underscoring its critical function at this challenging time.
