Suraya Bibi secured this historic victory with almost 8,000 votes, triumphing over Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan-Fazl’s Shakeel Ahmed. In the PK-1 Chitral constituency, a total of 130,189 people, comprising 60,645 women and 69,544 males, were registered to vote. Suraya Bibi garnered support from over 18,000 voters.

Her election marks a significant milestone for Chitral, as she emerges as the first woman to represent the region in the provincial assembly.
In the broader context of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, independent candidates backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have achieved victories, positioning themselves to assume roles in the province’s administration. Unofficial results from the KP provincial assembly elections indicate that independent candidates have secured 84 seats so far. Additionally, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has won 5 seats, while Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Pakistan-Fazl has secured 7 seats.
