[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]On Saturday, the Supreme Court resumed the hearing on the case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) ‘bat’ symbol, as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) challenged the decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) to restore PTI’s electoral symbol.
The bench, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and including Justices Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Musarrat Hilali, is overseeing the proceedings. This development follows the PHC’s declaration that the ECP’s revocation of PTI’s ‘bat’ symbol and rejection of its intra-party polls were invalid.

Subsequently, the ECP filed a petition in the Supreme Court, arguing that the PHC’s decision violated the Constitution and the law.
During the Saturday hearing, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa inquired about the evidence supporting the claim that the ECP’s decision was influenced by powerful entities. PTI’s legal representatives, including Hamid Khan and Ali Zafar, presented their case during the hearing, which was broadcasted online on the Supreme Court’s website and YouTube channel.
The ongoing legal battle revolves around the electoral symbol of PTI, with the ECP contesting the PHC’s decision to restore the ‘bat’ symbol. The court proceedings aim to examine the legality of the actions taken by both the ECP and the PHC in relation to PTI’s intra-party elections and the subsequent symbol revocation.
As the case unfolds, the Supreme Court is tasked with evaluating the evidence presented by both parties and reaching a fair and legally sound decision on the matter. The outcome of this legal battle will have implications for PTI’s participation in future elections and the status of its electoral symbol.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
