IGP and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Removed From Their Positions

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]On Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued directives for the dismissal of Inspector General (IG) Islamabad, Akbar Nasir Khan, and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, from their respective roles. This move follows complaints lodged by various political parties, citing alleged irregularities.

The Election Commission convened on December 26 to address concerns raised by political entities, resulting in the removal of both prominent officials.

An official announcement from the Settlement Division confirmed the termination of duties for IG Islamabad Akbar Nasir Khan and DC Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon.

Khurram Agha, Secretary of the Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwarul Haq Kakar, communicated in a letter to the Secretary Establishment Division, seeking recommendations for a panel of officers to fill the now-vacant positions.

The interim premier also submitted a summary regarding the removal of Ahad Cheema to President Arif Alvi. The Cabinet Division, in its summary, underscored the Election Commission’s decision to oust Ahad Cheema from his position.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
