Social Media Platforms Face Nationwide Disruption In Pakistan

Users in major cities such as Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad reported difficulties in accessing social media platforms shortly after 8 pm, accompanied by complaints of sluggish internet services during the disruption.

Netblocks, a leading internet monitoring organization, swiftly reported the incident, labeling it as a “nation-scale disruption.” The cause behind the disruption remains unclear, highlighting a recurring trend as this is not the first instance of social media access being impeded in Pakistan.

On May 9, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed the nationwide suspension of mobile broadband following the interior ministry’s instructions.
