Lahore's Air Quality Improves After Artificial Rain

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]LAHORE – The introduction of artificial rain in Lahore on Sunday resulted in a notable enhancement in the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI), signifying a significant stride in addressing the persistent smog issue.

The inaugural trial of artificial rain effectively dispersed the smog that had enveloped the city. Lahore, previously consistently ranked among the world’s most polluted cities, experienced a substantial drop in its AQI, reducing from 354 to 189.

The city, previously holding the unfortunate distinction of being the sixth most polluted globally, reaped the benefits of the artificial rain experiment. Specially dispatched aircraft from the UAE released 48 flares near Shahdara and Muridke during the initial trial.

Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that artificial rain was implemented at ten different points across Lahore. This method, known as cloud seeding, involves introducing substances like salt flares into clouds to stimulate the formation of raindrops or snowflakes.

Cloud seeding is a weather modification technique employed in areas facing drought or poor air quality, with the goal of encouraging precipitation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
