Punjab Eases Smog Restrictions In Lahore Temporarily

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]LAHORE – The interim government in Punjab has opted to lift all smog-related restrictions for the upcoming weekend due to significant improvements in the air quality of the provincial capital.

Lahore, a city with a population exceeding 22 million, experienced dense and hazardous fog that covered the metropolis, resulting in tens of thousands falling ill and compelling the government to close schools, markets, and parks.

With a slight amelioration in smog conditions, the government has declared that there will be no smog-related restrictions over the weekend, and all businesses and markets will operate as usual.

The Punjab Information Minister stated that markets and restaurants in the region will follow their regular schedules.

The provincial administration clarified the situation amidst uncertainty about the closure of restaurants in Punjab’s most smog-affected cities.

Despite factors such as rain, Lahore remained among the world’s most polluted cities.

Last week, the Punjab Chief Minister announced the closure of schools and colleges in 10 districts of the province on Friday and Saturday due to deteriorating air quality with the onset and prevalence of smog in Lahore and other districts of Punjab.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
