Pakistan faces a potential setback in the lead-up to their crucial World Cup match against England, as there are concerns about the availability of fast bowler Haris Rauf due to an injury.
As per the information available, Haris Rauf underwent a medical examination at a local hospital in Kolkata after experiencing discomfort from a rib sprain he sustained during Pakistan’s victory over New Zealand in their previous game.
The spokesperson for the national team shared with the media that Rauf’s scan results have returned without any major issues, and they remain hopeful that he will fully recover in time for the upcoming match.

Haris Rauf initially began to feel uncomfortable during a match against New Zealand in Bengaluru last week, which eventually led to his early exit from the field.
It’s worth noting that Shadab Khan also had to leave the field due to a concussion during the match against South Africa in Chennai and has not participated in a game since. His availability for the next Green Shirts’ match remains uncertain.
Furthermore, Pakistan’s chances of advancing to the World Cup semi-finals appear challenging, as their fate is not entirely in their hands. Their qualification for the semi-finals depends on the outcomes of Afghanistan and New Zealand.
Afghanistan is scheduled to compete in two demanding World Cup matches against strong teams, Australia and South Africa, on November 7 and November 10. These matches pose a significant challenge, given the impressive form of their opponents.
If Afghanistan manages to win both matches, they will secure direct qualification with 12 points, surpassing both New Zealand and Pakistan in the standings.
Currently, Pakistan’s main competition is against New Zealand, with both teams having one more match to play. However, New Zealand holds an advantage in terms of their net run rate (NRR). They are set to face the struggling Sri Lanka side on November 9 in Bengaluru.
As of now, New Zealand occupies the fourth position in the rankings with a net run rate (NRR) of 0.398, while Pakistan is ranked fifth with an NRR of 0.036.
