Israel Expresses Lack Of Interest In Conflict With Hezbollah

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Israel’s defense minister stated on Sunday that Israel does not desire to initiate a conflict on its northern border. He emphasized that if the Lebanese organization Hezbollah exercises restraint, Israel will maintain the current situation along the border.

Recent sporadic cross-border incidents between Israel and Lebanon have raised concerns that the hostilities with Hamas in Gaza could potentially escalate into a larger conflict.

On Sunday afternoon, sirens sounded across northern Israel, prompting residents to seek shelter. The military reported intercepting five of the nine rockets launched from Lebanon and responded with artillery fire at the origin of the rocket launches.

“We have no interest in a war in the north. We don’t want to escalate the situation,” said Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. He added that if Hezbollah chooses the path of war, it will face severe consequences. However, if it exercises restraint, Israel will respect that decision and maintain the current status quo, despite recent border exchanges of fire.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
