Muzzamil Hussain, a local YouTuber widely recognized as MHTOORI, has issued a formal legal notice to Pakistan Television (PTV) World on grounds of copyright infringement. The content creator has taken this legal route against the state-owned television network due to the unauthorized broadcast of his original video.

Typically, when television channels air content created by others, they seek permission and acknowledge the creators by providing due credit. In this particular case, however, PTV did neither reach out to Muzzamil for consent nor attribute his work. Muzzamil, in a conversation with a private news channel, revealed that he stumbled upon one of his videos being aired by PTV without his permission.

He mentioned that PTV World broadcasted the video footage on September 30th at around 2 pm. To date, the state television network has not responded to the allegations. In the legal notice, Muzzamil asserts that the video aired by PTV was assembled from various clips sourced from his Facebook videos, filmed at different locations across the country, including Swabi, Islamia College University, Gwadar, Khanpur Dam, and other historic sites.

Within the legal notice, Muzzamil has requested that PTV discontinues the broadcast, distribution, or any further use of the disputed video. Additionally, he seeks compensation amounting to Two Hundred Million PKR for the “unauthorized creation and broadcast of his video, as per the Copyright Ordinance, 1962.”

MHTOORI’s legal representative has extended a 7-day deadline to the PTV administration to respond to his client’s legal notice. In the event that his demands are not met, he will proceed with legal action.
