The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a new forecast indicating that there will be more rain and lower temperatures in the coming week. However, the PMD has also issued warnings of possible urban flooding and landslides.
According to the PMD’s advisory, intermittent rain and thunderstorms associated with a monsoon system are expected in the upper parts of Pakistan from September 15 to 20. This is due to monsoon currents moving in from the Bay of Bengal and impacting the northern regions of the country.

Additionally, a westerly wave is expected to enter Pakistan on September 16, bringing rain and wind-thunderstorms with moderate to heavy falls to several regions, including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and more. Various areas in Pakistan, including Kurram, Dera Ismail Khan, Faisalabad, and others, are expected to receive rainfall from September 16 to 18.
The PMD has cautioned that heavy rainfall could lead to increased water flows in local streams and nullahs in several areas, potentially causing landslides in vulnerable regions. This wet spell is anticipated from September 16 to 19 in specific areas.
