[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Skardu Airport is all set to receive its first international flight from Dubai on Pakistan’s Independence Day (14 August), according to the Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani. Skardu Airport is the only airport in the northern region of Pakistan capable of handling larger airplanes, as Gilgit and Chitral airports have shorter runways unsuitable for long-haul flights.
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan had declared Skardu Airport ‘international’ in December 2021, but its full potential was hindered by the lack of a proper re-fuelling facility for international flights.

However, the issue has now been resolved, and the re-fuelling facility is set to be inaugurated on 11 August. In recent times, 12 Airbus A320 flights have successfully connected Skardu with major cities in Pakistan, indicating an increase in tourism to the region.
Additionally, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has clarified that passengers traveling to and from Skardu do not require polio vaccination cards, warning against falling for fake online offers claiming otherwise. The CAA advises passengers to check with the airlines about the health policies of the countries they intend to travel to, particularly regarding polio vaccinations.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
