There have been numerous rumours for a long that Tesla is developing a new entry-level EV that will cost less than $30,000. However, now that the government is providing subsidies, Tesla’s Model 3 RWD model might be one of the only EVs available in that price range.

Tesla recently confirmed that all Model 3 EV versions are eligible for the full $7,5000 federal EV tax credit. According to the federal tax credit, 50% of the value of battery component must be produced or assembled in North America, while 40% of the key minerals must be mined in the US or from a country with a free trade agreement.

If consumers meet specific requirements, including as income limits & MSRP caps, the price of the Tesla Model 3 RWD drops to $32,740 when the entire federal EV tax credits are taken into account.

The Model 3 car does, however, also benefit from state incentives in addition to the federal tax credits. With its ‘Drive Clean’ Rebate, New York gives up to $2000 off on EVs. However, after the federal tax credits and the state incentives, the price of the Model 3 RWD drops to as low as $22,830 in Southern California – assuming purchasers meet all qualifying requirements.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
