The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started action against illegal structures along Islamabad Expressway East. The operation targets unauthorized construction and land-use violations.
The CDA is conducting the operation through its Building Control Section. The Enforcement Directorate and district administration are also supporting the ongoing action.
According to the authority, 377 structures have been identified for action. These include 281 commercial structures located along the affected stretch.
More than 140 structures have already been proceeded against by the authorities. The operation covers several areas along Islamabad Expressway East.
These areas include Soan Dehati, Iqbal Town, Khanna Pull, and Koral Bridge. The action also extends toward Koral and Gulberg Greens.
CDA Identifies Structures for Demolition
The CDA has identified and demarcated 124 structures between Soan and Khanna Pull. These structures have been marked for demolition.
Demolition activity has already started in the designated areas. The action is being taken against structures found in violation of applicable regulations.
The operation also covers commercial activities being conducted without proper authorization. Officials are checking construction and land-use practices along the expressway.
The authority is also addressing setback violations and floor area ratio breaches. Covered-area violations are among the other issues identified during the enforcement drive.
Rs. 3 Billion in Charges and Penalties
According to the CDA, around Rs. 3 billion is recoverable from the identified violations. The amount includes land-conversion charges and penalties.
These financial liabilities are linked to unauthorized construction and various building regulation violations. Setback, floor area ratio, and covered-area breaches are also included.
The authority is continuing its enforcement activities against structures that do not meet the required regulations. Officials are working with relevant departments during the operation.
The ongoing drive is part of efforts to address unauthorized development along the Islamabad Expressway corridor.
Sealed Premises to Remain Closed
The authority has also clarified the status of sealed properties. Premises that have been sealed will remain closed until the violations are resolved.
Property owners must complete the required legal and regularization procedures. Approval from the competent authority will also be required where applicable.
The CDA said sealed premises cannot reopen until the relevant requirements are fulfilled. This includes addressing identified violations and completing the necessary approval process.
The enforcement operation is continuing across the identified locations. Authorities are examining structures and commercial activities against applicable regulations.
The CDA has not indicated that all identified structures will face the same enforcement action. The measures include demolition, sealing, and proceedings against violations.
