Petrol Relief Scheme Registration Process Announced

The Ministry of Information Technology has announced the registration process for the Prime Minister’s Special Petrol Relief Scheme. The scheme will provide eligible citizens with a Rs. 100 per liter petrol subsidy.

The government has introduced a digital system to handle registration and verification. NADRA, telecom operators, and provincial departments are supporting the system.

The Petrol Relief scheme is designed for owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws, and small cars. Vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc will qualify for the subsidy.

Motorcycle and Qingqi rickshaw owners can receive subsidized petrol for up to 20 liters each month. Owners of eligible vehicles up to 800cc can receive up to 30 liters monthly.

The authorities will verify vehicle information through an automated system. The system will be connected with provincial transport and excise departments.

Citizens must meet specific registration requirements to join the Petrol Relief scheme. Applicants must send an SMS using a SIM registered in their own name.

The SMS must contain the applicant’s CNIC number and vehicle number. It must also include the relevant provincial code and vehicle registration date.

After completing the registration process, applicants will receive a confirmation message. The message will be sent to their registered mobile number.

Registered beneficiaries must complete another step before purchasing subsidized petrol. They need to send “TOK” to 9771 before visiting a petrol station.

After sending the message, applicants will receive a token on their mobile phone. They can present this token at the petrol station to receive discounted petrol.

The government has also announced a phased launch of the subsidized fuel distribution. The supply will begin at different times in Islamabad and other parts of the country.

In Islamabad, discounted petrol distribution is expected to start between Monday and Tuesday midnight. The nationwide distribution will begin between Wednesday and Thursday midnight.

The Petrol Relief initiative aims to provide targeted fuel support to eligible vehicle owners. The automated verification system is intended to ensure that only qualifying applicants receive the subsidy.

Citizens seeking the benefit should ensure their SIM and vehicle information are correctly registered. They should also carefully follow the SMS registration procedure.
