Shehbaz Sharif Announces Rs. 100 Petrol Subsidy

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a special petrol subsidy for citizens using smaller vehicles. The scheme aims to reduce the impact of rising fuel prices on daily commuters.

Under the new scheme, eligible users will receive Rs. 100 relief on every litre of petrol. The subsidy will apply to a limited quantity of fuel each month.

Motorcycle users will receive the subsidy on up to 20 litres of petrol every month. This will provide maximum monthly relief of Rs. 2,000.

The same monthly limit will apply to rickshaw and Qingqi rickshaw users. They can also receive up to Rs. 2,000 in monthly support.

Car owners will also benefit under the scheme. However, the subsidy will only cover vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc.

Owners of eligible cars will receive Rs. 100 relief per litre. The subsidy will apply to a maximum of 30 litres each month.

This means eligible car owners can receive up to Rs. 3,000 in monthly support. The government has targeted smaller vehicles under the new relief programme.

Shehbaz Sharif said the initiative was introduced amid higher global oil prices. Recent tensions in the Middle East have contributed to pressure on international fuel markets.

The government said the subsidy is intended to provide relief to people facing increased transportation costs. Motorcycles and three-wheelers are commonly used for daily travel.

The scheme will also cover eligible users of small cars. The government plans to provide relief through a registration-based process.

Registration for the petrol subsidy has started. The government will provide further information about the registration procedure through an awareness campaign.

The initial implementation will begin in Islamabad. The scheme will start there during the night between Monday and Tuesday.

The government plans to expand the programme across the country afterward. It will also cover Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Nationwide implementation is scheduled to begin during the night between Wednesday and Thursday. Eligible users in different regions will then be able to benefit.

Shehbaz Sharif has directed the government to provide targeted relief through the scheme. The programme focuses on vehicles that are widely used for local transportation.

The subsidy is not based on unlimited fuel consumption. Instead, the government has set monthly fuel limits for each vehicle category.

Motorcycle, rickshaw and Qingqi users have a lower fuel limit than eligible car owners. This reflects the different monthly limits announced under the programme.

The government is expected to share additional registration details as the awareness campaign progresses. Citizens will need to follow the official process to determine their eligibility.

The initiative comes as fuel prices remain a concern for consumers. The government says the targeted subsidy will help reduce the burden on selected vehicle users.
