Apple’s new iPhone 18 series has arrived with higher global prices, and Pakistani buyers could face an even bigger increase once PTA registration charges are added. The iPhone 18 Pro Max could cost more than Rs600,000 in Pakistan, based on estimated local taxes and current international pricing.
Apple has increased the starting price of both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max by $100 compared with their previous models. The 256GB iPhone 18 Pro now starts at $1,199, while the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro Max has a starting price of $1,299.
At current exchange rates, the US prices are roughly equivalent to Rs332,000 for the iPhone 18 Pro and around Rs360,000 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. However, these figures do not include Pakistani taxes, duties, registration charges or other costs involved in bringing the devices into the local market.
The biggest additional cost for Pakistani buyers is expected to come from PTA registration. High-end imported smartphones in this price range can face registration charges approaching Rs250,000, depending on the applicable tax calculation and registration method.
Based on the estimated charges, the iPhone 18 Pro could reach around Rs582,000 after PTA registration. The iPhone 18 Pro Max could become even more expensive, with an estimated total cost of approximately Rs610,000.
This means Pakistani consumers looking to buy the latest Pro Max model may have to spend more than six lakh rupees to use the phone on local mobile networks. The final market price can vary depending on the seller, exchange rate, taxes and the actual PTA registration amount applicable to the device.
Apple introduced the latest flagship lineup during its Wednesday event. While the $100 price increase had been expected by many analysts before the launch, it was still below some earlier forecasts about how much the new Pro models could cost.
The rising prices are not limited to Apple. Other major smartphone manufacturers have also increased prices for their premium devices. Samsung has made upward price adjustments for its Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, while Google has also increased the prices of the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro.
The latest changes point toward a more expensive premium smartphone market, particularly for buyers in countries where imported phones face significant taxes and registration charges.
Apple is scheduled to open preorders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 12, while official sales are expected to begin on September 18. Pakistani buyers will likely have to wait for local sellers to announce official market prices before knowing the final cost of the devices.
For consumers planning to purchase the iPhone 18 Pro Max, the combination of Apple’s higher starting price and Pakistan’s PTA charges could make the latest flagship one of the most expensive iPhones available in the local market.
