Karachi Task Force and a federal agency have busted a suspected drug smuggling network in the Korangi Industrial Area.
According to police, the operation led to the recovery of more than 50 kilograms of ice, a commonly used term for crystal methamphetamine.
Eight suspects were arrested during the raid, according to law enforcement officials.
Police said the suspects were allegedly involved in hiding and smuggling ice and ketamine through different consignments.
The arrested suspects reportedly included drug network mastermind Nazir Soomro and godown manager Shahid Mastoi.
Another suspect, Shaikh Khalid, was allegedly providing a location to store narcotics and a bank account for financial transactions.
Two Afghan nationals, identified as Noor Khan and Gran Khan, were also arrested during the operation.
Police alleged that the two suspects were involved in arranging the supply of drugs from Balochistan.
Another suspect, Nasir Ali, was arrested for allegedly facilitating the movement of ice, according to DIG Irfan Ali Baloch.
Police also arrested two constables, Kamran and Abdullah, over allegations of providing a sample of 10 kilograms of ice.
Two pistols were also recovered from the arrested suspects during the operation.
DIG Irfan Baloch said further investigation into the suspected drug network is underway.
Police are also attempting to identify other individuals allegedly connected with the network.
Officials said the investigation will focus on the source of the drugs, their transportation routes and the financial transactions involved.
The operation highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to prevent the smuggling and distribution of narcotics in Karachi.
Authorities are expected to conduct further raids based on information obtained from the arrested suspects.
Police said legal proceedings will be initiated against the accused under relevant laws.
The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the complete structure and reach of the suspected drug smuggling network.
