Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology in Lahore. The facility will provide modern cardiac treatment to patients.

The chief minister also announced a new heart transplant fund. She said a heart transplant can cost around $50,000.
The fund is intended to help address the high cost of heart transplant procedures. She also announced plans to begin transplants at the new institute.
Heart transplant procedures are scheduled to start from Saturday. Cardiac treatment at the facility will be provided free to people in Punjab.
The Jinnah Institute of Cardiology has been equipped with modern medical facilities. These include a hybrid catheterization laboratory for advanced cardiac procedures.
The institute also features wards designed according to international standards. Advanced cardiac equipment has been installed to support specialized patient care.
Maryam Nawaz said the hospital staff received training based on international standards. The training aims to strengthen the quality of cardiac services.
The chief minister also outlined other healthcare initiatives planned by the provincial government. These measures include a home dialysis program for patients.
The government also plans to provide a stroke-prevention injection free of cost. The initiative aims to improve access to preventive medical treatment.
Maryam Nawaz also highlighted the Punjab Air Ambulance service. The service has been launched to provide timely assistance during medical emergencies.
