Grand Theft Auto VI could feature an in-game currency system that allows players to exchange virtual money for real-world cash, according to a leaker known as Cyberleek.
The claim emerged on August 19, 2026, alongside alleged GTA 6 gameplay videos and map images attributed to the same source.
Rockstar Games has not confirmed the authenticity of the leaked material or announced any real-money currency exchange system.
This makes the claim difficult to verify, particularly because Cyberleek could benefit financially from the attention generated by the leaks.
The leaked footage reportedly comes from an early game build featuring a protagonist named Jason Duval.
Among the reported systems is a dual-currency setup that separates cash carried by players from money stored in a bank account.
The game is also reportedly set to increase the maximum wanted level to six stars.
That would be one level higher than the five-star wanted level limit featured in Grand Theft Auto V.
Police interactions have reportedly been expanded, with characters potentially able to recognize players more accurately.
Players may also reportedly be able to disguise themselves or surrender during police chases.
Combat systems appear to have been made more realistic, with stamina reportedly decreasing during prolonged fights.
Non-lethal weapons, including tasers, are also reportedly included in the leaked gameplay material.
A new detection meter is said to show how aware police officers are of a player’s presence during stealth situations.
Vehicles are also reportedly receiving several new features in GTA 6.
Cars may reportedly include trunk inventories and fuel gauges, while players could have multiple ways to hotwire and steal vehicles.
The leaked material also reportedly shows a basketball mini-game with its own progression system.
Another batch of alleged material was scheduled to appear on August 20, reportedly featuring additional gameplay footage.
The most significant claim remains the alleged ability to convert GTA 6’s virtual currency into real-world money.
If genuine, such a system could represent a major development for the gaming industry and digital economies.
However, there is currently no official evidence that GTA 6 will include a feature allowing players to exchange in-game money for real cash.
The claim comes from an anonymous source, while Rockstar has not confirmed the alleged system.
Questions about the source’s credibility have also increased after Cyberleek reportedly launched a Solana-based memecoin called CYBERLEEK on August 18.
The token reportedly reached around $11.8 million in trading volume, while its market capitalization was around $1.73 million.
Cyberleek has described the leaks as part of a digital rights campaign and criticized preorder practices in the gaming industry.
However, Stop Killing Games rejected that explanation and argued that the memecoin was behind the leaks.
Analysts have also raised concerns about the cryptocurrency project and described it as potentially deceptive.
Rockstar has not confirmed that the leaked GTA 6 files are genuine.
However, the company has reportedly issued DMCA takedown notices against posts sharing the leaked material.
The takedown actions indicate that Rockstar is treating the circulated content as copyrighted material.
They do not, however, confirm whether the information contained in the leaks is accurate.
For now, the alleged real-money exchange system remains unverified.
The upcoming GTA 6 gameplay reveal scheduled for August 27, 2026, could provide more information about the game’s economy and other reported systems.
Until then, claims about converting GTA 6 currency into real-world money should be treated with caution.
