The Lahore Traffic Police have impounded a motorcyclist’s bike after discovering that he had accumulated Rs100,000 in unpaid e-challans for repeatedly violating traffic rules. The action was taken during a routine traffic checking operation in the Nawankot area.
According to the Lahore Traffic Police, Traffic Inspector Nadeem Ullah stopped the rider and checked his e-challan record through the department’s digital system. The inspection revealed that the motorcyclist had outstanding traffic fines totaling Rs100,000.
Police identified the rider as a milkman who had continued using his motorcycle despite repeatedly violating traffic regulations. Officials said the rider had ignored multiple notices and failed to clear the accumulated fines.
Authorities said the motorcyclist had been issued 50 separate e-challans for riding without wearing a helmet. Despite receiving repeated penalties, he allegedly continued violating the law without paying the fines.
Following verification of the outstanding challans, the traffic police impounded the motorcycle and shifted it to Nawankot Police Station. Further legal action will be taken in accordance with traffic regulations.
Traffic police urged all motorcyclists to wear helmets while riding and comply with traffic laws to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of other road users. Officials stressed that repeated violations could lead to strict enforcement measures.
The department also advised motorists to regularly check and pay their pending e-challans to avoid penalties, vehicle impoundment and other legal consequences. Authorities said the use of digital enforcement systems has improved the monitoring of habitual traffic offenders.
The Lahore Traffic Police reiterated that strict action against repeat violators will continue as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety, encourage compliance with traffic regulations and reduce accidents across the city.
