The PKR continued its positive performance against the US Dollar on Thursday, extending its winning streak to 204 consecutive trading days. The local currency gained one paisa during the session and closed at 277.90 against the US Dollar in the interbank market.
The latest gain continues a trend that began on December 25, 2025. Since then, the PKR has recorded steady daily improvements against the US Dollar. Although Thursday’s increase was small, it marked another positive close for the local currency.
The exchange rate reflects continued stability in the foreign exchange market. Financial analysts and businesses closely monitor the rupee’s daily movement because it affects imports, exports, and overall economic activity. The current trend has helped the currency maintain a consistent position against the US Dollar for several months.
The PKR also showed mixed performance against other international currencies during Thursday’s trading session. It remained unchanged against the UAE Dirham (AED) while gaining one paisa against the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
The rupee strengthened against the British Pound (GBP) by 24 paisas. However, it weakened against the Euro (EUR), losing 30 paisas during the day’s trading. The movement highlights the different trends seen in global currency markets.
Among other major currencies, the PKR declined by 14 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD). It also lost 28 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD). These changes reflect normal fluctuations in international exchange rates.
According to the latest exchange rates, the US Dollar closed at 277.90, while the Euro settled at 317.32. The British Pound ended the day at 371.51, the Australian Dollar at 194.52, and the Canadian Dollar at 197.46. The UAE Dirham closed at 75.67, while the Saudi Riyal finished at 74.04.
Despite slight losses against some global currencies, the PKR has maintained its upward trend against the US Dollar. The steady performance has drawn attention because of the long duration of the current winning streak.
Currency movements remain important for Pakistan’s economy. Exchange rates influence the cost of imported goods, international trade, and business transactions. Investors and financial experts continue to watch the market for any changes that could affect the rupee’s direction.
