Maryam Nawaz, Portuguese Ambassador Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz held a detailed meeting with Portugal’s Ambassador Miguel Guedes Domingues in Lahore. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and Portugal in several important sectors.

During the meeting, the Portuguese ambassador thanked Maryam Nawaz for the hospitality extended during the visit. The ambassador also appreciated the warm reception and the arrangements made during the meeting.

Both sides discussed opportunities in trade, agriculture, and livestock development. They also reviewed ways to increase economic cooperation between Pakistan and Portugal.

The discussions covered several other areas of mutual interest. These included the pharmaceutical sector, energy, water resources, healthcare, and digital innovation.

Maryam Nawaz invited Portuguese investors to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan. She said Pakistan offers potential for international partnerships in different sectors.

The chief minister emphasized the importance of stronger diplomatic and trade relations between the two countries. She said long-term cooperation could benefit both Pakistan and Portugal.

The Portuguese ambassador also invited Maryam Nawaz to visit Portugal. The invitation reflected the growing engagement between the two sides.

During the meeting, the ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic role in reducing tensions between the United States and Iran. The ambassador acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to support peace and stability in the Middle East.

The two sides agreed that Pakistan and Portugal have long-standing bilateral relations. They noted that there is room to further expand cooperation through institutional partnerships.

The Portuguese ambassador also praised the progress made in Punjab’s health sector. The ambassador specifically appreciated the establishment of the province’s first public cancer hospital.
The meeting also included discussion on cultural and educational exchanges. Both sides agreed that people-to-people ties can be strengthened through greater interaction.

Maryam Nawaz noted that many young people in Pakistan admire footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. She said sports and cultural connections can help bring the people of both countries closer.

The two sides also discussed tourism and mutual understanding. They agreed that promoting culture, heritage, language, and academic exchanges could strengthen relations further.

Officials said the meeting reflected a shared interest in expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. They added that stronger institutional links could help build lasting relations between Pakistan and Portugal.
