A gamer has managed to pre-order GTA 6 for only $2.12 by combining retailer rewards with a discount coupon. The purchase has attracted attention because it reduced the game’s original price of $79.99 by more than 97%.
The deal was not part of a public sale or a special Rockstar promotion. Instead, it was made possible through reward certificates that had already been earned from a previous purchase. This means other players may only receive similar savings if they have accumulated rewards in their own accounts.
According to the player, they purchased a PlayStation 5 Pro from Best Buy several months ago while preparing for the release of GTA 6. The console was bought using a Best Buy credit card, which generated cash-back rewards after the purchase.
The player later forgot about those rewards until GTA 6 pre-orders became available. After checking the Best Buy account, they discovered enough reward certificates to cover most of the Standard Edition’s price.
The remaining balance was reduced further by applying a 10% discount coupon. As a result, the final amount paid for the game dropped to just $2.12.
The player encouraged other gamers to review their retailer reward accounts before completing a purchase. Customers may also benefit from checking unused credit card rewards, loyalty programs, and cashback balances. Those who recently purchased expensive electronics could already have enough rewards to lower the cost of the game.
However, the amount of savings depends entirely on each customer’s account. There is no universal discount available for all buyers.
Best Buy is not the only retailer offering reward opportunities. Some Xbox users have also been collecting Microsoft Rewards points through Microsoft services. Players can earn these points by completing eligible activities, including searches through Bing and other Microsoft platforms.
The accumulated points can be exchanged for Microsoft or Xbox Store credit. That credit can then be used toward a GTA 6 pre-order. Reports indicate that at least one player collected enough points to fully cover the cost of the $99.99 Ultimate Edition. However, earning that many points usually requires significant time and consistent participation.
Rockstar Games has priced the Standard Edition of the game at $79.99. The Ultimate Edition is available for $99.99 and includes additional vehicles, weapons, clothing, businesses, and other bonus content connected to the game’s main characters, Jason and Lucia.
The Standard Edition is being sold through retailers as a physical code-in-box package. Despite the physical packaging, it does not include a game disc. Instead, customers receive a digital download code inside the box. Players who purchase the Standard Edition can later upgrade to the Ultimate Edition through the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store.
Rockstar opened global pre-orders on June 25. The game is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-loading will begin one week earlier on November 12.

The $2.12 purchase does not represent a hidden discount available to everyone. Instead, it highlights how existing reward certificates, cashback offers, and retailer coupons can significantly reduce the cost of buying GTA 6 for eligible customers.
