A local court in Lahore has extended the interim bail of Saqib Chadhar, a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), until July 13 in a case involving allegations of harassment made by actress Momina Iqbal.
The hearing was conducted by Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Siddiqui, who directed Saqib Chadhar to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation and ensure his participation in the inquiry.
During the proceedings, the investigating officer informed the court that the suspect’s mobile phone, an important piece of evidence in the case, had only been received a day earlier. The officer stated that because the device was handed over recently, the investigation could not yet be completed and additional time was required to examine the evidence.
After hearing the arguments, the court instructed the investigation team to speed up the inquiry and postponed further proceedings until July 13.
Representing actress Momina Iqbal, her legal counsel argued that Saqib Chadhar had allegedly been using his political influence to delay the investigation. The lawyer claimed these delays were affecting the progress of the case and requested the court to ensure the inquiry moved forward without unnecessary obstacles.
The court also ordered the investigating authorities to complete the probe as soon as possible and submit a detailed progress report along with all relevant records at the next hearing.
The case against Saqib Chadhar was registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after actress Momina Iqbal filed a formal complaint accusing the provincial lawmaker of harassment. The allegations are currently under investigation, and no final decision has been reached.
With the interim bail extended, Saqib Chadhar will remain protected from arrest until the next hearing, while investigators continue gathering evidence and reviewing the material submitted during the inquiry. The court is expected to examine the investigation’s progress when the matter resumes on July 13.
