As Pakistan celebrates its 79th Independence Day, fashion brand MARIA.B is highlighting the stories of ordinary citizens whose extraordinary efforts are making a difference in their communities.
Through its “Aam Log, Khaas Kahaniyan Season 2” initiative, MARIA.B invited people from across the country to share inspiring stories of individuals working to improve the lives of others.
Four stories were selected from the entries, with the MARIA.B CARES FOUNDATION stepping forward to support the missions of these community heroes.
Rawa Khan supports children through education
In Khati Pahadi, Karachi, Rawa Khan is helping children from families who migrated from Balochistan continue their education despite financial difficulties.
Many families in the area face the difficult choice between sending their children to school and relying on them to contribute to household income.
Rawa Khan addresses the issue by providing food and support equivalent to what a child might earn through work, allowing them to attend school instead.
Her school currently provides education up to Grade 3, with plans for further expansion. MARIA.B CARES FOUNDATION is supporting the initiative as it works to reach more children.
Arab Shah helps girls reach school
In Peshawar, Arab Shah has been working since 2014 to help girls access education safely.
His own sisters were unable to complete their schooling because of the distance between their home and educational institutions.
In response, Shah began providing free pick-and-drop services for girls using a rickshaw and a van.
MARIA.B CARES FOUNDATION is now providing an additional vehicle to help him expand the service and enable more girls to attend school and college.
Sohail Sisters pursue international success
The Sohail Sisters, a group of four gold medal-winning weightlifters, have represented Pakistan at international competitions despite limited support and resources.
The sisters have often worked other jobs to finance their own travel and continue their sporting careers.
MARIA.B CARES FOUNDATION is sponsoring the athletes so they can concentrate on their training and championship ambitions without the same financial pressures.
Ehsam and Natasha promote innovation
In Gilgit, engineers Ehsam and Natasha founded Makeistan, a creative space designed to help students turn their ideas into practical projects.
The initiative provides young people with tools and support to develop projects ranging from robotics to emerging technologies.
The founders also aim to introduce creative and technology-based learning opportunities to students from Grades 3 and 4.
MARIA.B CARES FOUNDATION has joined the initiative as a co-sponsor and will help establish a dedicated laboratory at a community-run school in Gulmit.
Celebrating the spirit of independence
Through “Aam Log, Khaas Kahaniyan,” MARIA.B CARES FOUNDATION is using Independence Day to spotlight people working quietly to improve their communities.
The initiative focuses on education, women’s access to opportunities, sports and technological creativity while providing practical support to people already creating positive change.
The campaign reflects the idea that independence is not only about freedom, but also about creating opportunities for others and contributing to a stronger society.
