The Punjab government has delivered 11 green electric buses to Narowal as part of its initiative to modernize public transportation with affordable and environmentally friendly travel options.
According to officials, the electric bus service is expected to begin operations in July, with the buses initially operating on six routes across the district.
The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) said the fare has been fixed at Rs20 per trip, making the service an affordable commuting option for residents.
The buses will operate between Narowal and nearby areas, including Shakargarh, Zafarwal, Qila Ahmadabad, Qila Kalar Wala, and Badomalhi. Authorities also plan to introduce a dedicated intra-city bus service within Narowal.
Officials said each electric bus can travel approximately 80 kilometers on a single charge, offering an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional public transport.
The provincial government has also announced plans to expand the fleet by adding more electric buses in the future, aiming to strengthen Narowal’s public transport network and provide residents with modern, reliable, and sustainable travel facilities.
The initiative forms part of Punjab’s broader strategy to promote clean transportation and improve public mobility across the province.
