Pakistani actress and model Ayesha Omar has opened up about the controversy surrounding the leak of her private photographs, sharing how the incident affected both her personal life and career for years.
Speaking in a recent interview with international media, Ayesha recalled that the photos were taken during a vacation in Thailand with her close friend and fellow actress Maria Wasti. According to her, the images were never intended for public viewing but eventually surfaced online without her permission.
The actress explained that one of the leaked pictures showed her in a swimsuit, while several others featured her wearing casual summer clothing, including skirts and vacation outfits. Once the images spread across social media and various online platforms, she became the target of intense criticism and public scrutiny.
Ayesha said the backlash extended beyond social media and had professional consequences as well. She revealed that the entertainment industry at the time often judged female artists based on certain societal expectations and conservative perceptions. As a result, she lost out on several work opportunities and projects that might otherwise have come her way.
Reflecting on the incident, Ayesha emphasized that sharing someone’s personal photographs without their consent is a serious violation of privacy. She stressed that individuals have the right to control how and where their personal images are used, and any unauthorized distribution can cause emotional and professional harm.
The actress also shared that she is now associated with an NGO that works to educate people about digital privacy, online safety, and the misuse of personal information. Through this effort, she hopes to help others understand the risks associated with sharing or distributing private content without permission.
Ayesha said her decision to speak publicly about the matter years later is not solely about revisiting her own experience. Instead, she hopes it will encourage greater awareness about privacy rights and highlight the lasting impact that the unauthorized sharing of personal images can have on an individual’s life.
