The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) has announced that the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Service will be suspended after 7:00 p.m. on June 23, 2026, due to security and traffic arrangements for 7th Muharram.
According to a public advisory issued by the authority, Metro Bus operations will remain unavailable after the specified time as authorities implement special security measures for Muharram processions and religious gatherings.
The PMTA stated that temporary route diversions and operational adjustments may also be introduced on certain sections of the Metro Bus corridor in line with traffic management and security requirements.
Officials said the measures are aimed at ensuring public safety and facilitating the smooth movement of Muharram processions across Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Passengers have been advised to plan their travel in advance and arrange alternative transportation where necessary. The authority also urged commuters to follow official updates and cooperate with traffic and security personnel during the period.
Further announcements regarding the restoration of normal operations will be issued through official channels.
