Asim Munir Says Pakistan Played Major Role in US-Iran Peace

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that Pakistan has achieved a significant success in helping promote peace between the United States and Iran, describing the development as a result of Allah’s blessings and the country’s continued diplomatic efforts.

Speaking to ARY News anchorperson Waseem Badami on the sidelines of the US-Iran talks, Asim Munir expressed gratitude for what he termed an important achievement. He said the progress reflects both divine support and Pakistan’s commitment to regional and global peace.

The Field Marshal stated that the accomplishment was made possible through the grace of Almighty Allah and the collective efforts of all those involved. He emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to supporting dialogue and peaceful resolutions to international disputes.

Pakistan has emerged as a key diplomatic player in the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States. Alongside Qatar, Pakistan played a mediating role during the first round of talks, helping facilitate discussions aimed at ending tensions and conflict in the Middle East.

The negotiations concluded at the Burgenstock Resort in Switzerland, where delegations from both countries agreed on a framework for future discussions. Following the talks, Pakistan and Qatar issued a joint statement highlighting the progress made and outlining the next phase of negotiations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the outcome as “major progress” and praised the efforts of the mediating countries. According to the joint statement, a high-level committee established by Tehran and Washington has agreed on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final agreement within 60 days. Technical-level discussions are set to continue throughout the week at Burgenstock, focusing on outstanding issues and the implementation of the proposed framework.
