Karachi Unveils Special Water Plan for Muharram

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation has finalized a special emergency plan to ensure uninterrupted water supply and efficient drainage services during Muharram-ul-Haram and Ashura across Karachi.

The arrangements have been made on the directives of Murtaza Wahab and KWSC CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, with officials instructed to remain on high alert throughout the religious observance period.

According to a circular issued by Chief Operating Officer Asadullah Khan, all water supply and sewerage-related work around mosques, imambargahs, majalis venues, sabeels, and procession routes must be completed before Ashura.

KWSC has directed its officers to maintain close coordination with district administrations, law enforcement agencies, elected representatives, and religious organizations to ensure smooth arrangements during Muharram gatherings and processions.

The corporation has also ordered uninterrupted water supply to key locations, along with the cleaning of sewerage lines, repair and covering of manholes, and deployment of jetting and suction machines to respond quickly to any emergencies.

Officials said the emergency plan is aimed at minimizing disruptions and ensuring that religious events across the city are held smoothly and safely.

The special arrangements will remain in place throughout Muharram, with operational teams monitoring water supply and drainage services around the clock.
