KARACHI – Authorities in Karachi have unveiled a detailed security strategy for Muharram-ul-Haram following a high-level meeting held at the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Headquarters to assess the city’s overall law and order situation.
The meeting was chaired by the Director General of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and attended by senior law enforcement and security officials. Discussions focused on ensuring comprehensive security measures for Muharram processions, majalis, and other religious gatherings taking place across the city during the sacred month.
During the session, participants thoroughly reviewed existing security preparations and approved a broad security plan aimed at maintaining peace, protecting worshippers, and preventing any untoward incidents. Officials emphasized that all necessary arrangements would be implemented to ensure a safe environment for religious activities throughout Muharram.
As part of the approved strategy, Rangers and police will increase joint flag marches and snap-checking operations in different parts of Karachi and other areas of Sindh. These measures are intended to strengthen security, enhance public confidence, and deter any potential threats during the observance of Muharram.
The meeting also stressed the importance of providing adequate security for majalis and processions belonging to all schools of thought. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring equal protection and maintaining religious harmony throughout the province.
The DG Rangers directed all relevant departments and agencies to maintain close coordination and improve intelligence-sharing mechanisms. He instructed security institutions to remain vigilant and proactively address any possible security concerns. Enhanced monitoring and stricter screening procedures have also been ordered at inter-provincial entry and exit points across Sindh.
Officials further agreed on the strict enforcement of the code of conduct issued for Muharram activities. Law enforcement agencies appealed to religious leaders and community members to cooperate in promoting peace, unity, and tolerance during the holy month.
The public has been encouraged to promptly report any suspicious activity or security concerns to Rangers personnel on duty, the Rangers helpline 1101, or the official Rangers WhatsApp helpline to help maintain a secure environment throughout Muharram-ul-Haram.
