JD Vance Warns Israel: Don’t Turn Against Your Last Ally

US Vice President JD Vance delivered a sharp warning to Israeli officials criticizing the recent Iran peace agreement, urging them not to alienate the United States and President Donald Trump. His remarks highlighted growing tensions between Washington and some members of the Israeli government over the deal aimed at ending the conflict with Iran.

Speaking during a White House briefing, Vance said Trump remains Israel’s strongest and most influential ally on the global stage. He argued that Israeli politicians should carefully consider the strategic importance of maintaining strong relations with the United States rather than publicly attacking the agreement or the American administration supporting it.

Vance stressed that if he were serving in the Israeli cabinet, he would avoid criticizing what he described as Israel’s only major powerful ally. He noted that the United States continues to provide extensive diplomatic, military, and financial support to Israel, making the partnership vital for the country’s security and regional position.

While acknowledging that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had not personally criticized the agreement, Vance pointed to comments from other senior Israeli figures. In an interview, he specifically referenced National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich as among those who had voiced opposition to the deal.

The vice president also highlighted the scale of American military assistance provided to Israel. According to Vance, a significant portion of the defensive systems protecting Israel are produced in the United States and funded by American taxpayers. He argued that this level of support demonstrates the importance of preserving strong ties between the two countries.

Trump has also recently voiced concerns about continued military actions in the region, particularly Israeli strikes in Lebanon that risk undermining the ceasefire and broader peace efforts. Speaking at the G7 summit in France, Trump criticized what he viewed as disproportionate responses to security incidents and called on all parties, including Israel and Hezbollah, to respect the ceasefire. He later reiterated his position on social media, urging a complete cessation of hostilities across all fronts to preserve the fragile truce and support ongoing diplomatic efforts.
