The measure is part of a wider federal government initiative aimed at conducting health screening of deported Pakistani citizens upon their return to the country. Under the new framework, Border Health Services will carry out HIV testing at designated entry points with the support and coordination of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
According to the notification, instructions have been issued to the FIA, Airport Security Force (ASF), and airline operators to ensure that all deported individuals arriving at Lahore airport undergo the required screening process before leaving the airport premises.
Health officials stated that testing will be conducted in designated isolation rooms established at Allama Iqbal International Airport. The arrangements have been made to ensure that the screening process is carried out in a controlled and organized environment while maintaining confidentiality and safety standards.
Under the procedure, if a passenger tests positive for HIV, the relevant health authorities will immediately notify the Punjab AIDS Control Programme for further assessment, counseling, and medical follow-up. Officials said the system has been developed to facilitate timely healthcare intervention where required.
The notification also directs FIA personnel to provide full assistance during the implementation of the screening program. Meanwhile, the ASF has been instructed to deploy trained and responsible staff at the testing area located in the international arrivals section of the airport to support the process and maintain order.
In addition, airlines transporting deported passengers have been directed to coordinate with the airport’s Health Department before arrival. Carriers must provide complete passenger information and other relevant details in advance to help authorities prepare for the screening process.
Officials said the initiative is intended to strengthen public health monitoring and ensure that necessary medical protocols are followed for deported passengers entering Pakistan through Lahore airport.
